The five steps
The progress chip at the top of each step reads “step 1 of 5”, “step 2 of 5” and so on.Once you finish setup, it doesn’t come back. If you skip a step, you answer it later from the place in the last column, not from setup.
Step 1: welcome to SCUBAzen
Under about you, tap add a photo to pick a profile photo, and type your name in the name field. Your name is printed on the paperwork a dive shop asks you to fill in; the photo is only for your account. Tap next. This step has no back button.Step 2: your certifications
Tap add certification to add a card: its name, agency, number, issue date and photos of the front and back. You can add several. The step returns here after each one. When you are done, or if your cards aren’t to hand, tap next. Insurance is not part of setup. Add it from certifications & insurance whenever you like; once a policy is on file, home checks it against your trip dates. See Add a certification and Add dive insurance.Step 3: my equipment
Each piece of gear has an own and a rent button, grouped under basics, life support, exposure protection, extras and papers & personal. A few personal items have bring instead of own. Borrowed gear counts as your own. Your answers fill your packing list and the paperwork you send a dive shop. The essentials a shop asks about read needs an answer until you mark them. You can leave them and come back later. Tap next.Step 4: units & sizes
- units: SCUBAzen starts these from your phone’s region, so a phone set to a metric country starts on metric. Change any row, or tap all metric or all imperial.
- dive count: total logged dives is the number your next logged dive counts up from. If you carry a paper logbook, enter its total here. The highest it accepts is 200,000; a higher number stops next until you correct it.
- sizes: only the gear you marked rent in step 3. The sizes are printed on your paperwork so a shop can have your rental kit ready.
Step 5: your dive history
If you logged dives in another app, tap choose a csv file to import them; the importer shows you what it found before anything is saved. After the import, tap continue. If you have nothing to import, tap not now. The how to export from your dive app link under the intro opens the SCUBAzen website’s help page. Either way, setup ends and you land on home. The full import walkthrough is on Import a logbook.Going back, and leaving partway
- On steps 2 to 5, the back arrow returns to the step before with your answers still on screen. Going back never undoes anything.
- If you close the app partway through, it opens on home next time; setup does not pick up where you left off. Your answers so far are saved, and the rest are in the places listed in the table above.
- If you sign out partway through and sign back in within a day of creating your account, setup starts again from step 1. Your answers so far stay saved.
- With no connection, your answers save on the phone and sync when you are back online. next may take a few seconds while it tries to reach the server, then moves on.
