The SCUBAzen dive log

The SCUBAzen logbook records each dive's site, depth, bottom time, water temperature, gas, conditions, equipment and notes, plus how the diver's weighting felt and how warm they were. A diver can log a day's dives in one sitting: when the last dive is less than 48 hours old, SCUBAzen carries over the dive shop, place, tank, wetsuit, weight belt and water type, so each new entry needs only the site, depth and time. Each dive can hold photos. The logbook is searchable, and a dive saved with no signal is kept on the phone and syncs when the phone is back online.

SCUBAzen imports an existing logbook from a CSV file exported by another dive app or dive computer program, such as Subsurface, MacDive, Shearwater Cloud or Diving Log. The diver reviews which column maps to which field and every dive before anything is added, and can undo the whole import. The logbook can also be backed up to CSV files at any time.

Zenfinder: wetsuit and weight calculator

Zenfinder is the SCUBAzen wetsuit and dive weight calculator. The wetsuit answer starts from a seven-band ladder by water temperature, shifted warmer or cooler when the diver says they run cold or warm. In SCUBAzen v2, the wetsuit answer also moves with the warmth a diver logged on past dives in similar water: a diver who logged being cold in a 3 mm wetsuit at 76 °F is offered a 5 mm suit next time. The weight answer is worked out from the diver's body (weight, height, age, sex and body fat), exposure suit, tank, fins and salt or fresh water; it does not read dive history. A third tab shows what the diver wore and carried on past dives in similar water. Every Zenfinder result is an estimate to test with a buoyancy check before diving. The travel agent

The SCUBAzen travel agent is an AI travel planner that reads a diver's certifications and logbook, then helps the diver choose where to dive next and what fits their diving. Answers come from Google Gemini, and before the first question the app shows exactly what it sends. Every email address gets one free day of unlimited questions, lasting 24 hours from the first question sent. After the free day, 30 days with the travel agent can be bought at the price shown in the app, as a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play that does not renew. The travel agent is the only paid part of SCUBAzen, because each answer is produced by a third-party AI service at a cost to SCUBAzen.

Trips and dive shop paperwork

When a diver adds a trip (a destination and dates), the SCUBAzen home screen becomes a checklist for that trip. Home checks what a dive shop can turn a diver away for: dive insurance that expires before the return date, no certification on file, essentials not yet marked as owned or rented, and rented gear with no size. Home also flags gear due for service, a refresher reminder when the last logged dive will be more than a year old on departure, and the typical sea temperature at 46 dive destinations, alongside what the diver wore before in water that warm.

The SCUBAzen paperwork page turns the diver's kit, rental sizes, certifications and insurance into one English A4 PDF for a dive shop, sent through the phone's share sheet. The paperwork page warns about missing items but never blocks sending.

Certifications, insurance, gear and packing

SCUBAzen stores each certification card with its agency, card number and photos of the front and back, and each dive insurance policy with its plan and expiry date. Home warns when a policy expires within 60 days or before a trip ends. SCUBAzen keeps each piece of the diver's own gear with its service history and next due date, and home shows service that is close or overdue. The SCUBAzen packing list is built from the kit the diver marks once as owned or rented, plus their own items, and its ticks reset for the next trip.

What SCUBAzen does not do

SCUBAzen is limited to preparation and record-keeping above the waterline. SCUBAzen does not replace a dive computer, does not perform decompression calculations, does not provide in-water guidance, and does not substitute for dive training or a buddy. SCUBAzen is free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play, and there is no subscription. The logbook and photos, CSV import and backup, Zenfinder, trips, paperwork, packing list, certifications and insurance, and gear tracking are all free. The travel agent is the one paid feature: every email address gets one free day of unlimited questions, and after that 30 days of the travel agent can be bought at the price shown in the app. The 30-day purchase is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play, does not renew automatically, and is refunded through Apple or Google under their policies.
