To add dive insurance, open certifications & insurance, tap add insurance, choose your insurer, add the expiry date and the phone number to call, and tap save. Only the insurer is required. The expiry date is what lets SCUBAzen warn you when cover is running out, and the phone number becomes a call button you can tap from a boat.

Add a policy

1

Open the form

On the certifications & insurance page, tap add insurance at the foot of the insurance section. The form opens titled insurance.
2

Choose the insurer

Under details, pick from insurer: DAN, DiveAssure or other. If you pick other, type the company in insurer name.
3

Fill in the rest

Add the plan, the policy number, the expiry date and the phone number to call in an emergency.
4

Add card photos (optional)

Under card, tap add photo for front of card and back of card, then choose gallery or camera. Adding a photo needs a connection.
5

Save

Tap save at the top right.
If you tap save without an insurer, the app says “choose an insurer before saving” and keeps what you typed. Text fields hold up to 80 characters; a line reading 80 characters max appears when you reach the limit. Tap the × beside the expiry date to clear it.

View a policy

Open a policy from the list. The top of the page shows the insurer, the plan, the expiry date and how it stands:
  • “expires in 20 days”, “expires tomorrow” or “expires today” when it runs out within 60 days
  • “expired yesterday” or “expired 3 days ago” once it has passed
  • expires when it’s further off than that
Below that are the card photos, then policy number with a copy button, and the phone number.

Call your insurer

Tap the phone number row (it shows call on the right) to open your phone’s dialer with the number filled in. Spaces, brackets and dashes in the number are fine. If the phone can’t start a call, the app tells you to dial the number yourself. If the number you saved has no digits the phone can dial, the row shows the number but doesn’t offer call.

How the expiry date feeds home

Home reads the expiry dates of your policies. Policies with no expiry date are ignored, and having no insurance on file is never flagged as a problem. With a trip ahead, home compares your insurance with the day you come home. If cover runs out before then, home lists it among the things to sort before you go, with a line such as “your insurance expires 4 days into your trip” or “your insurance expires before you leave”. If the cover has already lapsed, the line reads “your insurance has expired”. While that line is showing, home’s paperwork button reads paperwork · not ready yet. The paperwork page doesn’t check insurance, so it can disagree with home. See Get ready for a trip. With no trip, home mentions your insurance when a policy has expired or expires within 60 days, for example “insurance expires in 12 days”. Home uses the soonest expiry date among all the policies on file. If you keep an expired policy after renewing, home treats your insurance as expired even though the new policy is valid. Delete the old policy, or update it with the new details, to clear the warning. Tap the insurance line on home to come straight to this page.

Edit or delete a policy

Open the policy and tap the pencil. Change what you need and tap save, or tap the × at the top to stop without saving. To delete it, start editing, scroll to the foot of the page and tap delete insurance, then confirm with delete.
Deleting removes the policy and its card photos from your account. It can’t be undone. Photos saved on your phone aren’t touched.
Saving and deleting work offline; the app tells you the change will sync when you’re back online.
