# Settings

> What's in SCUBAzen's settings, how to open them, and which things live elsewhere in the app.

Settings holds your account, your units and sizes, your kit, backups, help, the app's language, and the background images switch. Open it from the settings icon at the top of home, or from **settings** at the bottom of the menu.

## What's on the page

| **diving** | **units & sizes** | Metric or imperial for each measurement, your dive count, and your sizes. See [Units and sizes](/docs/settings/units-and-sizes). |
| **diving** | **my kit** | Your kit: whether you own or rent each piece. See [Your kit](/docs/gear/kit). |
| **app** | **backup & restore** | Back up your logbook as CSV files, or import a logbook. See [Back up your logbook](/docs/logbook/backup) and [Import a logbook](/docs/logbook/import). |
| **app** | **help & feedback** | Report a problem, suggest an idea, or show the tips again. See [Help and feedback](/docs/help/feedback). |
| **app** | **language** | The language the app is in (below). |
| **app** | **background images** | A switch for the photographs behind each page (below). |

Below the sections are two buttons, kept apart from the rest on purpose:

* **sign out** ends your session on this phone. See [Sign out](/docs/settings/sign-out).
* **delete account** opens the page that permanently deletes your account. See [Delete your account](/docs/settings/delete-account).

At the very bottom, a line shows your app version: "SCUBAzen" followed by the version and build number. It's useful to include when you report a problem.

## Background images

With **background images** on, most pages sit over a photograph. Turn it off for plain, light screens. The switch takes effect straight away.

This setting belongs to the phone, not your account: it doesn't sync to your other phones, and it stays as it is when you sign out.

## Language

The **language** row shows the language the app is in. Tap it and pick one from the list; each language is named in itself (English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Nederlands, Polski, Русский). The app switches straight away.

It's the same list as the language picker on the sign-in page, and like that one, your choice is kept on this phone: it doesn't sync to your other phones, and it stays when you sign out.

## Things that aren't in settings

Some things you might look for here live elsewhere:

* **Certifications and insurance** are in the menu, under **certifications & insurance**. The [Account](/docs/settings/account) page also has a **certifications & insurance** row that opens the same place. See [Your certifications and insurance](/docs/certs/wallet).
* **Gear you track for servicing** is in the menu, under **gear**. It's separate from your kit in settings. See [Track your gear](/docs/gear/gear-list).
* **Hand signals** are in the menu, under **hand signals**. See [Hand signals](/docs/help/hand-signals).
* **Setup answers**: everything setup asked about can be changed later. Your details, kit, units, sizes and dive count are here, and importing a logbook is under **backup & restore**. Certifications are in the menu, or under **account** here. See [Set up SCUBAzen](/docs/get-started/setup).
