# FAQ

> Answers to common SCUBAzen questions: what's free, which phones it runs on, what syncs, kit versus gear, email changes, deletion and languages.

SCUBAzen is free to use, runs on iPhone and Android, and keeps your logbook and everything around it in your account so it follows you to a new phone. The only paid part is the travel agent, which you pay for by time with a trip pass after a free first day.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Is SCUBAzen free?">
    Yes. The logbook, certifications and insurance, kit and gear tracking, the packing list, paperwork and Zenfinder are free, with no limits and no subscription.

    The travel agent is the one thing that costs us to run, so it's paid for by time, never by message. Every email address gets one free day: 24 hours that start when your first question sends. After that, the agent needs a trip pass, which gives you 30 days of questions at the price shown in the app. A trip pass doesn't renew automatically, so nothing more is charged when it ends. See [your free day](/docs/travel-agent/free-day) and [trip pass](/docs/travel-agent/trip-pass).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which phones does it run on?">
    iPhone (iOS 15 or later), from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scubazen/id6670226301), and Android phones, from [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scubazen). There's no web or desktop version. Your store shows whether your phone is supported.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What syncs between my phones?">
    Sign in with the same email address and your account comes with you. That covers:

    * your logbook, including each dive's gear used, dive type and photos
    * certifications and insurance, with their card photos
    * your gear list and service records
    * your trips
    * travel agent conversations and your trip pass
    * your kit (own or rent), sizes, units, dive numbering, Zenfinder answers and packing list

    A few things stay on the phone where you set them: an unsaved dive draft, the app's language, and whether **background images** are on.

    Changes made offline sync when that phone is back online, and your other phones see them after that. See [troubleshooting](/docs/help/troubleshooting#saved-on-your-phone).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the difference between my kit and my gear?">
    | | Your kit | Your gear list |
    | - | - | - |
    | Where | **settings**, then **my kit** | The menu, then **gear** |
    | What it holds | For each item, whether you own it or rent it, plus your sizes | The pieces of gear you own, with service dates |
    | What uses it | Your packing list, your paperwork, and the gear pre-ticked on a new dive | Service reminders on home |

    Adding something to your gear list doesn't mark it as owned in your kit, and changing your kit doesn't add anything to your gear list. Set each one separately. The empty gear list reminds you: "this list is separate from my kit in settings: adding gear here doesn't mark it as your own there".

    See [your kit](/docs/gear/kit) and [track your gear](/docs/gear/gear-list).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I change my email address?">
    No. Your account is the email address you sign in with, and the app has no way to change it. Your name, photo and location can be changed in **settings** under **account**. See [your account](/docs/settings/account).

    Signing in with a different address creates a separate, empty account. Only your logbook can move between accounts: back it up from the old one and import the logbook file into the new one. Certifications, insurance, gear, trips and photos don't move. See [back up your logbook](/docs/logbook/backup) and [import a logbook](/docs/logbook/import).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What does deleting my account remove?">
    Deleting your account removes your logbook, dive photos, certifications and insurance with their card photos, gear and service history, trips, travel agent conversations and your settings. It can't be undone.

    A backup saves your logbook as files first, but it can't save everything that deletion removes. Any unused trip pass time is lost with the account. The delete account page lists all of this before you confirm.

    Read [delete your account](/docs/settings/delete-account) before you start: it lists exactly what's removed and what you can save.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which languages is SCUBAzen in?">
    Seven: English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Nederlands, Polski and Русский. SCUBAzen starts in your phone's language if it's one of these, and in English if it isn't.

    To change it, tap **language** in settings, under **app**, and pick one. Before you sign in, the same list is at the foot of the sign-in page. Either way the app switches straight away, and the choice stays on this phone. See [Settings](/docs/settings/index#language).

    These help pages are in English only.
