# Your certifications and insurance

> Keep your cert cards and dive insurance in one place, see which policy is about to expire, and have both ready when a shop asks.

SCUBAzen keeps your certification cards and your dive insurance on one page, titled **certifications & insurance**. Certifications never expire in the app; each insurance policy shows its expiry date and a status, so you can see at a glance whether your cover is still good.

## Open the page

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="From the menu">
    Open the menu on home and, under **diving**, tap **certifications & insurance**.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="From settings">
    In settings, tap **account**, then tap **certifications & insurance**. The page has the same name.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

Home also links here when a trip needs something from this page, for example **no certifications on file** or a policy that runs out before you get home.

## Two sections

| Section | What each row shows | Order |
| - | - | - |
| **certifications** | The certification name, then the agency and card number | Newest issue date first; cards with no issue date go last |
| **insurance** | The insurer, then the plan, with the expiry date and a status on the right | Soonest expiry first; policies with no expiry date go last |

Each section shows a count once it has something in it. Tap any row to open that card or policy. Tap **add certification** or **add insurance** at the foot of a section to add a new one.

If a section can't load, it says so and offers **retry**. The add button stays available either way.

## Insurance expiry status

Each policy with an expiry date carries one of three words under the date:

| Status | When |
| - | - |
| **expires** | The expiry date is more than 60 days away |
| **expires soon** | The policy expires within the next 60 days, including today |
| **expired** | The expiry date has passed |

A policy is still in force on its expiry date. It shows **expired** from the next day.

The top of the page watches your cover, which is the policy that runs latest. When that policy is expired or expiring soon, the top of the page names it: the insurer, the date, and a count such as "expires in 20 days" or "expired 3 days ago". When your cover is fine, the top of the page is empty, even if an older policy on the list has expired.

Certifications have an issue date but no expiry date, so they never show a status.

<Tip>
  After you renew, you can keep the old policy or delete it. Its own row still shows **expired**, but the top of this page and home go by the renewal.
</Tip>

See [Add dive insurance](/docs/certs/insurance) for how expiry dates feed home's trip checklist.

## Offline

You can add, edit and delete certifications and insurance without a connection. The change is kept on your phone and the app tells you it will sync when you're back online. Card photos are the exception: adding one needs a connection.

## During setup

The second step of first-run setup, titled **your certifications**, is this same page with only the certifications section. Insurance isn't part of setup; add it here whenever you have a trip to cover.
