# Add a certification

> Add a certification card with its name, agency, number, issue date and photos of both sides, then copy the number when a shop asks.

To add a certification, open **certifications & insurance** (from the menu, or from settings under **account**), tap **add certification**, type the certification name, fill in whatever else you have, and tap **save**. Only the name is required. You can add photos of the front and back of the card so you can show it at a shop counter.

## Add a certification

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the form">
    On the **certifications & insurance** page, tap **add certification** at the foot of the **certifications** section. The form opens titled **certification**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the details">
    Under **details**, enter what you have. Only **certification name** is required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add card photos (optional)">
    Under **card**, tap **add photo** for **front of card** and again for **back of card**. Choose **gallery** or **camera**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Tap **save** at the top right. You go back to the list, where the new card appears.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you tap **save** without a name, the app says "name the certification before saving" and keeps everything you typed.

## The fields

| Field | What to enter |
| - | - |
| **certification name** | The level as it's printed on the card, for example Advanced Open Water. Required. |
| **agency** | Pick from the list, or **other** |
| **agency name** | Appears only when you pick **other**. Type the agency's name. |
| **number** | The card or diver number |
| **issue date** | Tap to pick a date. It can't be in the future. Tap the **×** beside it to clear it. |
| **dive shop** | Where you trained |
| **instructor** | Who certified you |

Text fields hold up to 80 characters. When a field reaches the limit, a line under it reads **80 characters max**.

### Agencies on the list

PADI, SSI, NAUI, SDI, TDI, RAID, CMAS, BSAC, GUE, IANTD, PDIC, SNSI and SEI. If yours isn't there, pick **other** and type its name in **agency name**. A certification saved under a name the list doesn't know keeps that name exactly as you typed it.

## Card photos

Each side of the card has its own slot. While editing:

* **add photo** opens the source picker (**gallery** or **camera**).
* **replace photo** swaps the photo in that slot.
* **remove photo** empties the slot.

Photos upload as soon as you pick them, so adding one needs a connection. If an upload fails, the app says the photo didn't upload and you can try again. Nothing is kept until you tap **save**; if you leave without saving, photos you added in that session are discarded.

On a saved certification, the photos lead the page, shown at card shape. Tap one to open it full screen and swipe to the other side. If a saved certification has no photos, tap **add card photos** to start editing with the photo slots ready. If a photo won't load, tap it to try again.

## View, copy and edit

Open a certification from the list to see it. The page shows the name and agency, the card photos, and the details you entered.

* **Copy the number:** beside **certification number**, tap **copy**. The button reads **copied** for a moment.
* **Edit:** tap the pencil at the top. Change anything, then tap **save**. To stop without saving, tap the **×** at the top; if you changed something, the app asks "discard your changes?" and you choose **discard** or **cancel**.

## Delete a certification

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start editing">
    Open the certification and tap the pencil.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Delete">
    Scroll to the foot of the page and tap **delete certification**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    The app asks "delete this certification?". Tap **delete**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Deleting removes the certification and its card photos from your account. It can't be undone. Photos saved on your phone aren't touched.
</Warning>

## Offline

Saving and deleting work without a connection. The app tells you the change is saved (or deleted) on your phone and will sync when you're back online. Adding a card photo needs a connection.
